About
Hi — I'm Brandon, and this is CigarEdge.
I'm a cigar enthusiast and a solo developer. CigarEdge isn't a company. It's a weekend project I built because I got tired of staring at a “sale price” on a retailer's website and not knowing whether it was actually a good deal or just a sticker.
Every major online cigar retailer has their own review blog, their own “editor's picks,” their own price alerts. Which is fine. But they're all incentivized to sell their cigars at their prices. I wanted something that sat in the middle and just tracked what the numbers were actually doing.
So I wrote crawlers that watch prices across the vendors I buy from, store every price change in a database, and score each current price against that vitola's own history. That's the whole site. No paid placements, no “featured deals,” no conflict-of-interest weighing on what shows up on the landing page.
How the price tracking works
Two sources: affiliate product feeds where the retailer publishes a structured list of SKUs and prices, and targeted web scrapers for everything else. Both run on a schedule, typically daily. Every observed price is written to a time-series table.
The “deal verdict” you see on a vitola page is computed live: I compare the current best price against the last 30 days of history for the same vitola and pack size, then adjust for sale flags. It's not a 1–5 star rating; it's a percentile plus an optional sale bonus, and I've tried to keep it legible.
If you catch something that looks wrong, email me. I'd rather fix a bug than hide it.

Affiliate disclosure
Some of the “Go to retailer” buttons on this site are affiliate links, which means if you buy something after clicking, I might earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It helps cover hosting and keeps the project going.
Affiliate status has no effect on which retailers appear, which deals surface, or how prices are scored. The cheapest price wins the badge regardless of whether clicking it earns me anything.
